The people of Afiesere community in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State on Thursday condemned the use of illicit drugs and substance by youths in the Area .
President General of Afiesere community Olorogun Luke Mukoro during a sensitization walk against drug abuse stated that henceforth any youth caught with illicit drugs and those selling illicit drugs would be apprehended and handed over to the appropriate authorities.
Olorogun Mukoro who led the community members marched through the major streets, raising awareness about the dangers of illicit substances and the importance of seeking help.
The sensitization walk according to the President General, was aimed to educate residents about the risks associated with drug abuse.
He stated that the community will hand over any youth caught with hard drugs and the seller to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA stressing that they are aware of the sensitization walk
Others who spoke warned that those selling illicit drugs would face the consequences.
They expressed concern that if the trend of drug abuse continues, many young people might succumb to a life of crime and addiction.
They however revealed that some youths are already receiving treatment in various healing homes in the area due to the use of hard drugs .
The respondents Afiesere Stated that they are taking proactive steps to prevent substance abuse and foster a brighter future for their youths .
The anti drug sensitization campaign
highlights the community’s determination to create a safer environment and promote healthy lifestyles among its residents, particularly the youth.
