Delta State Commissioner for Transportation,Hon. Onoriode Agofure has said agents collecting revenue from tricycle(Keke) and motorcycles
operators in the name of the State Government in parts of Delta State are illegal revenue collectors.
Aghofure was speaking in an interview with Newsmen while reacting to Wednesday protest by Keke riders in Effurun and other areas in Uvwie local government Area of Delta state .
Hon Agofure said the Agents are not from the Ministry of Transportation nor from the State Government.
The commissioner revealed that Delta State Government has not given approval for collection of revenue from Tricycle and motorcycle operators , stressing that the state government had banned the revenue collection since March 2023 just before the general elections.
Hon Aghofure further stated that the State Government would constitute the appropriate authority to collect revenue from tricycles and motorcycles across Delta State.
He asserted that those collecting revenue presently are breaching the law as their activities are highly illegal,adding that the state government has alerted Security personnel to go after those collecting the illegal revenue from motorcycle and Keke operators in the State.
