BOMADI– The Bomadi Local Government Council’s Legislative Arm has suspended six councilors following a failed attempt to impeach its leadership.
An emergency session convened on January 5, 2026, resulted in the suspension of Hon. Tiriki ThankGod, Hon. Harris Barbar, Hon. Ebi Nanakumor, Hon. Isaiah Selekekeme, Hon. Pius Komuko, and Hon. Bariki Desmond.
The statement, signed by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Wurukeseye Doubra, and Clerk Cmr. Julius Clerke, revealed that the suspension was prompted by these councilors’ participation in a sitting that did not meet quorum requirements and lacked the mace, which symbolizes authority.
The session was deemed illegitimate and without legal standing.
Hon. Doubra emphasized that any grievances regarding the leadership must be presented through appropriate channels, ensuring due process is followed. He expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their continued support and called for enhanced collaboration between the council’s legislative and executive arms.
In the wake of the controversy, Hon. Doubra sought to dispel rumors of a leadership change within the Bomadi Council Legislative Arm and urged for calm among members and constituents.
