Delta State Government has commenced work on the long-awaited 10.8km Aboh-Akarai Concrete Road and 100-meter bridge across the Okiri River in Ndokwa East local government area.
This signal a major infrastructure push by the Oborevwori-led administration.
Member representing Ndokwa East in the State Assembly, Hon. Prince Emeka Osamuta, confirmed over the weekend that preliminary works, including soil testing for the bridge, have been completed, while site clearing and bulldozing are fully underway.
“The bulldozers are already clearing from Aboh to Akaria, and the dredger for sand filling has been deployed to the river.
All key equipment is on site,” Osamuta disclosed after inspecting the project location.

Describing the development as a historic milestone, the visibly elated lawmaker thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for fulfilling what he called “a long-held dream of the Ndokwa people.”
“This project was recently approved by the Governor and the State Executive Council, and I am excited to announce that work is not just beginning—it’s progressing,” Osamuta said.
He also acknowledged the crucial role of Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, hailing him as “a royal and responsive deputy who feels the pains of the Ndokwa people and is helping to rewrite our story.”
Osamuta extended appreciation to Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, for his legislative support, and praised his constituents for trusting him to deliver real impact.
The road and bridge project, once completed, is expected to transform access and connectivity across Ndokwa East, boosting local trade, transport, and rural development.
“This isn’t just a road, it’s a lifeline,” Osamuta emphasized. “We’re opening up our communities to economic opportunities and meaningful development.”
Pledging continued advocacy for democratic dividends, Osamuta urged his constituents to keep faith with the Oborevwori administration and support government efforts at all levels.
