The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria ( ALGON), Delta State Chapter , has congratulated Speaker of the State House of Assembly , Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, on his election as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.
The group said the welcome development is a pointer to what they termed “placing Delta on the nation’s legislative leadership apogee”.
In a congratulatory message signed on behalf of the 25 local government council Chairmen, Delta ALGON Chairman who also doubles as Executive Chairman of Okpe Local Government Council, Hon Chief Isaiah Esiovwa, and Secretary/ Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, respectively, the newly elected Conference of Speakers Chairman is imbued with legislative acumen, inclusive leadership skills and remarkable achievements .
Noting that Rt Hon Guwor’s emergence to lead the the Conference of Speakers which occupies a very strategic position in the nation’s democratic dispensation is incontrovertible evidence of his colleagues confidence in his leadership abilities, Delta ALGON expressed implicit confidence in the Delta Assembly Speaker’s ability to lead the Conference towards promoting cooperation among state legislatures while advancing high standards of good governance.
Delta ALGON also attributed Guwor’s success as the Conference Chairman , as a reflection of the robust , result driven legislature in Delta , under his watch as Speaker .
The statement reads in part : “Delta ALGON heartily and warmly congratulates a detribalized , humble and inclusive team leader , Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor , Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, on his emergence as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, at their Conference held on Monday 9th February, 2026, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory”.
According to the ALGON Delta congratulatory message , “Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor’s emergence is not only a victory for the State legislature, but for all Deltans who believe in democratic governance. The Speaker has received the baton from our amiable Governor , who during his tenure as Speaker, served as Treasurer and Deputy Chairman of the Speakers Forum. We are highly elated that Mr Speaker will bring to bear, his wealth of legislative experience and stability in piloting the affairs of the Conference of Speakers , thus engendering the much desired synergy between the legislature and the other arms of government for the overall benefit of democratic development”
Delta ALGON therefore used the opportunity to commend the newly elected Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria , for his synergy with the Executive arm of government in the state , which has brought to bear the unprecedented massive development across the three senatorial districts of the state under the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Renewed Hope for More Agenda programme
