The Delta State Government has Dissolved all Community Development Association factions in the Ojobo community, Burutu Local Government Area with immediate effect.
The State Deputy Governor Sir Monday John Onyeme announced this at a crucial meeting with stake holders of Ojobo community held at the Unity Hall, Government House Asaba with the Chairman of Burutu Local Government, Mr Julius Takeme, The Traditional ruler of the community and representatives of the Army, the police and the Department of State Security,DSS in attendance.
Sir Onyeme who took time to listen patiently to the presentations of the various contending groups in the Protracted leadership tussle plaguing Ojobo community asserted that the Delta State law of 2021 regulating the tenure and election of Community Development Association Executives was still in force.
The Deputy Governor described the Ojobo violence which had claimed about four lives and resulted in burning of residential buildings and property as intolerable and directed the security agencies to immediately commence patrol of the Riverine community, fish out the perpetrators and prosecute them no matter whose ox is gored he warned that the Delta State Government would not allow lawlessness to become the order of the day in Ojobo community directing that the Burutu Local Government Chairman immediately take charge of the affairs of Ojobo community Development Association until the State Government constitute a care taker committee to manage the affairs of Ojobo community.
The Deputy Governor Sir Monday John Onyeme also directed freezing of the Bank accounts of Ojobo Community Development Association barring any financial withdrawals unless approved by the Delta Government represented by himself .
Sir Onyeme further declared that the Care taker committee to be constituted would stabilise the affairs of Ojobo community and carry out a review of Ojobo Community Constitution for it to comply with the Community Development Association laws of Delta State.
He told the Ojobo people that the Unlawful elections of persons to run the Affairs of the community have been annulled and warned that anyone flouting the Delta State law regulating Community Development Association would not be spared the punishment spelt out in that Law.
The secretary to the State Government Doctor Kingsley Ezeh Emuh, the State commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Honourable Pat Ajudua and across section of top Government Officials Also attended the meeting.
