Leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Delta State Council on Wednesday held its first ever rotational State Congress in Warri where members of the Union came to deliberate on several issues.
The Delta State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Churchill Oyowe said that the rotational State Congress was designed to create a sense of belonging for members of different chapels.
The State Congress was attended by the Director General of Warri Uvwie Environment Development Agency WEUDA, Prince Godwin Ejinyere, the Chief Executive Officer CEO Lawal Iyanda Farms limited, Asiwaju Sola Adebayo a veteran journalist and the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyimi as guest speaker.
State Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe while welcoming members to the congress, said that the rotational congress will be continuous.
One of the Special Guest, the Director General of Warri Uvwie Environment Development Agency Hon Godwin Ejinyere who spoke in an interview said that the agency is proud to identify with members of the Pen Profession.
Speaking in a similar vein, the Special Assistant on Media to Hon Ejinyere, Dr Godwin Orhadewhe said the agency’s has done a lot in area of flood control, sanitation among others.
A veteran journalist who is the Chief Executive Officer of Lawal Iyanda Farms limited, Asiwaju Sola Adebayo was presented with an award by the Delta state NUJ for his contributions to the growth of the union .
Adebayo expressed appreciation for the honour done him.
He also implored members of the Union to always aspire to be great in life.
Chairman of Warri South local government, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyimi said his administration is poised to returning Warri to her glory days by making it a cosmopolitan city.
In the communique at the end of the Congress, the journalists congratulated Delta State Governor Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for the speedy work at the ongoing flyovers construction and
called on him to equally pay attention to other roads begging for attention as well as expedite the process of implementation on the new minimum wage among others
