The monthly Environmental sanitation in Delta state will hold on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 between the hours of 7am to 10am.
A statement by the State Director of Public Communication/Fn. Permanent Secretary, Theresa Oliko stated that during the Exercise, there will be no restriction of movement of persons and vehicles on account of the Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, taking place in the state on the same day.
The statement however, advised residents to cut overgrown weeds, desilt their drainages and keep their environment clean to prevent the spread of diseases as it is the responsibility of every resident to clean 20 meters radius of their premises.
According to the statement the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ejiro Jamani, the permanent secretary Dr. (Mrs.) M.I. Oseji, staff of the ministry and the taskforce on environment and relevant authorities will monitor the exercise.
Officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board, Local Government Councils and other relevant authorities will evacuate the resultant refuse to the approved government dumpsites.
