Reverend Daniel Imini, a pastor in St Stephen’s Anglican church Jakpa road in Uvwie Local Government Area, has stated that goodly heritage is not only limited to money and properties, but discipline, good character and virtuous living.
Imini stated this at the occassion of the thanksgiving service of the Anglican Children Ministry (ACM) week that ended on sunday May 28th 2023.
The clergyman who also double as the children’s chaplain in the church, charged parents to live an exemplary life for their children to emulate, “as children are quick to learn from what their parents do than from what they say” he said.
While admonishing the children to be obedient and submissive to their parents, teachers and elders, Imini said “though your beauty lies in your time and strength as children and youths, you must however, rely on your parents and elders for guidance and knowledge, as their glory lies in their grey hair which represent experience and wisdom.”
With the theme “our church, our children and our future,” the clergyman frowned at some youths who disregard the instructions of their parents, viewing it as old fashion. “The bible has already asked us to respect and honour our parents as children, so our days may be long. A reversal of this statement also tells the consequences” he added.
The children who were colourfully and beautifully dressed, took charge of the service as they presented drama, songs and bible recitation.
High point of the service was when some children who represented the church in quiz competition at diocesan level were called out and honoured, as they took first position.
The service ended with thanksgiving by the children, ACM teachers and their chaplain.
