The Delta State House of Assembly has expressed confidence of the capability and capacity of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to complete all projects awarded by the state government across the three senatorial districts, including those in riverine communities of the state

Chairman, House Committee on Works and Special Projects, Hon Oboro Preyor gave the assurance during oversight inspection visits to some ongoing projects in Warri South and Burutu local government areas of the state, in line with constitutional assignments of the State Legislature.

The projects include, ongoing construction of Section I and II, Trans Warri, Ode-Itsekiri Bridge and Access roads in Warri South and the much talked Ayakoromo Bridge across River Forcados in Burutu local government area.

The Lawmaker, Hon Preyor, accompanied by five members of the Committee, namely Hon Collins Egbetamah, Emmanuel Sinebe, Ferguson Onwo, Edafe Emakpor and James Augoye as well as the Permanent Secretary and Engineers from the Ministry of Works, said the oversight visit was part of efforts by the State Assembly to boast infrastructural development in the state.

He said the 8th Delta State Assembly led by Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor is in strong partnership with “His Excellency, the Governor of the State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori” to take the state to a higher level of development as promised Deltans in his MORE agenda mantra.

Preyor emphasized that as a House that appropriates funds to each of the projects, it was necessary to visit the sites to evaluate progress and prospects, with a view of helping to drive standards and timely completion.

Citing Friday’s movement to the riverine part of the state to inaugurate some completed projects, Preyor who represents Bomadi Constituency in the House, commended the Governor for taking development to coastal communities.

He assured that as representatives of the people, Members of the State Assembly would continue to monitor and ensure that the dividends of democracy get to the nooks and crannies of the State, no matter how remote.

At the Trans Warri, Ode Itsekiri project site, the Lawmakers defiled the rains to inspect the 15 bridges and access roads embarked upon by the state government to link several communities in Itsekiri nation and connect the people to their ancestral home.

The concern was same at the Ayakoromo Bridge project site awarded by the state government to connect communities at both sides of the bank of River Forcados to each other by road, the project that was recently re-awarded to Setraco Nigeria limited for completion.

Saying that both projects when completed will no doubt improve socio-economic activities in the localities, Hon Preyor praised the work done so far and urged the firm handling the projects to work hard to deliver them within stipulated time frame.

The team leader and Chairman of the Committee appreciated Governor Oborevwori for promising to complete inherited projects from previous administration, stressing that the State Assembly will leave up to its responsibility by sustaining the existing synergy between it and the Executive to progress the state.

He promised that the Committee will follow up with Contractors handling the various projects as well as the Ministry of Works to ensure timely delivery, maintaining that the era of abandoned projects and sub standard job was over.

Preyor also urged residents to continue to support the state government and those partnering with it for development and prosperity in the state

Project Engineer, Setraco Nigeria Limited, Mr Marun Narah had told the Lawmakers that challenges which had slowed down the execution of the projects have been addressed and thanked all stakeholders for their support and cooperation.

The oversight visits to project sites of the state government by Members of the House Committee on Works and Special Projects continues.
