Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, celebrated the inauguration of the newly completed Model Technical College in Omadino, emphasizing the pivotal role of technical and vocational education in combating youth unemployment. He stated that graduates would become skilled professionals and entrepreneurs, enabling them to create jobs rather than search for them.
During the inauguration, Oborevwori referred to the college as a flagship investment in furthering technical education in the state, highlighting the significance of such institutions in fostering economic empowerment and reducing unemployment.

He expressed pride in the achievements of his administration over the past two years, asserting that notable projects, including the Model Technical College, were completed without accruing debt or imposing additional financial burdens on citizens. “We have achieved a lot within two years without borrowing. This project is a testament to prudent management,” he noted.
Governor Oborevwori revealed that the college had already commenced academic activities prior to its formal opening, underscoring its readiness and operational functionality. The institution boasts modern facilities such as fully equipped workshops, classrooms, and laboratories, which reflect the administration’s commitment to quality education.
In his commendation for his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Oborevwori acknowledged the initial vision for the project while reiterating his administration’s dedication to ensuring its successful completion. “I am pleased to see a beautiful and solid edifice standing proudly,” he added, pointing out the importance of modern educational infrastructure in enhancing learning outcomes and teacher effectiveness.

State Commissioner for Technical Education, Mr. Smart Ufoh, hailed the college as more than just a technical school, branding it a bold statement of purpose and transformation. Facilities include 12 classrooms, nine workshops, hostel blocks, and recreational areas, fostering a conducive environment for both learning and teaching.
The chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Hon. Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, thanked Oborevwori for his impactful governance, noting that the commissioning of the Model Technical College is a landmark achievement in conjunction with other infrastructure developments throughout Delta State.
Also present at the inauguration was the Olu of Warri, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, who lauded the governor’s commitment to the development of riverine communities and reiterated the need for ongoing investment in education and infrastructure.
