The Proprietress of Shamar Schools, Enerhen in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State ,Ambassador Dr ( Mrs ) Onyi Ikemefuna who is also the Director of Shamar Educational Foundation has appealed to government, public spirited individuals and corporate organisations to show concerned for the out of school children in the society.
The renowned counsellor cum educationist made the call in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent in her school in Enerhen on Monday 8th January , 2024 .
She stated that most out of school children were hungry and needed medical care just as she disclosed that it was because of these reasons that Shamar Educational Foundation provided scholarship, free medical care and one meal a day for such children.
Ikemefuna also disclosed that a welfare package was also extended to mothers of the beneficiaries by the foundation.
She then stressed the need for government, public spirited individuals and corporate organisations to do same.
Ikemefuna promised to give the necessary support to Delta State Government as an NGO recognised by the United Nations as she disclosed that Shamar Educational Foundation has a special consultative status with the United Nations.
The renowned counsellor gave advice on how to enhance the education of children as she posited that ” best teaching comes from home.
Parents Should advised their children to pay attention to what they are taught in schools.
” Parents should not talk down on schools and teachers. ” She added.
Ikemefuna stressed that parents have their roles and that schools also have their roles in enhancing education of children.
Ikemefuna however proudly disclosed that her school has introduced soft skills, mentorship and capacity building to her school curriculum as obtainable in other parts of developed countries.
