Effurun-Otor kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area now has a new Spokesman .

He is chief Michael Eyareya

Correspondent reports that Chief Eyareya defeated his opponent chief John Maduku during an election held at Effurun-Otor town hall on Tuesday October 1,2024.

The election of the New Spokesman also known as Otota of Effurun-Otor kingdom started with accreditation of eligible voters.

Hundreds of Indigenes of the kingdom gathered at the front of the town hall to witnessed the election of the new Spokesman of Effurun-Otor in the presence of the President General of Effurun-Otor, Chief Uzoh Okwa Francis and security operatives .

Voting commenced at about 10 in the morning with 57 delegates as the Electoral Committee chairman,chief Emmanuel Duku read out the rules and constitution as a guide to the electoral system of Effurun-Otor kingdom .

He added that only Chief John Maduku and Chief Michael Eyareya were screened for the election.

Option A4 system of voting was accepted by the delegates and the contestants.
Chief Michael Eyareya pulled 56 votes out of 57 votes to defeat his opponent chief John Maduku.


The Newly elected spokesman of Effurun -Otor kingdom Chief Michael Eyareya thanked the people of the kingdom for their support and pledged to make education a priority in the kingdom.
He called on all to support him so that Effurun-Otor kingdom would be further developed .

The Regent and chairman of Effurun-Otor council of chiefs ,chief Jonathan Duku commended the delegates for conducting themselves peacefully during the free and fair election.

Also speaking ,Pastor Whisky Simon , Olorogun Anthony Duku (Esq.) amongst others congratulated the new Spokesman for his victory and advised that he carries everyone along during his tenure.

The new Spokesman was elected three years after the transition of the Effurun-Otor monarch .
