The Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, JP, has charged council chairmen across the state to prioritize grassroots development projects that directly address the needs of the people.

Governor Oborevwori gave the charge while commissioning a series of landmark projects executed by the Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike. The Governor was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sir Monday John Onyeme, FCA.
Expressing satisfaction with the quality and spread of the projects, the Governor noted that the interventions were fully in sync with the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government as well as the Renewed Hope initiative of the Federal Government. He emphasized that the projects were practical, people-oriented, and designed for everyday use with tangible impact on the lives of residents.
The Governor explained that the newly constructed and upgraded markets would stimulate commercial activities and expand the internally generated revenue base of the local government. He further noted that the upgraded police divisional headquarters and the newly built police tactical unit would significantly strengthen security presence and coverage across Aniocha South.

According to him, the newly built matron’s quarters at Adonte would address accommodation challenges for health personnel and ultimately improve healthcare delivery, while other sectoral interventions would leave lasting positive impacts on the people. He commended Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike for the prudent management of public resources and for providing leadership that aligns seamlessly with the vision of the state government. He also urged beneficiary communities to take ownership of the projects and ensure their proper use and maintenance.
Earlier in an address, Pastor Jude Chukwunwike expressed profound gratitude to the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for his continued support to local governments and commitment to grassroots development across the state, also thanking the people of Aniocha South for the mandate entrusted to him to serve, while commending critical stakeholders, traditional rulers, the political class, party leaders, and all those who came out in large numbers to witness what he described as a historic occasion.

In his address, the council chairman formally declared the completion of 19 landmark projects and interventions, executed based on needs assessment reports and direct demands from communities across the local government.

Some of the Landmark Projects Commissioned Include:
1. Construction of 40 lock-up stalls at Afor Market, Ogwashi-Uku.
2. Upgrade of the Ubulu-Uku Police Post to a Divisional Headquarters.
3. Construction of a fully equipped Police Tactical Unit at Ubulu-Uku.
4. Construction of 10 new lock-up stalls and renovation of 171 open stalls at Nkwo Market, Nsukwa.
5. Construction of a 3-bedroom Matron’s Quarters at Adonte Primary Health Care Development Agency.
6. Construction of 6 lock-up stalls and renovation of 140 open stalls with ancillary facilities at Olie Market, Ubulu-Okiti.

7. Donation of a Toyota Sienna vehicle to the Ubulu-Uku Divisional Police Headquarters.
8. Construction of a block of 3 classrooms at Ishe Primary School, Ewulu.
9. Renovation of a block of 4 classrooms at Etiti-Amaka Primary School, Ubulu-Uno.
10. Construction of 6 lock-up stalls and 100 open stalls at Isheagu Market (near completion).
11. Renovation and equipping of Ubulu-Uku General Hospital with vital medical equipment.
12. Provision of 33 motorcycles to vigilante groups to enhance community security.
13. Provision of Toyota vehicles to five senior council officials.
14. Provision of a Toyota Sienna vehicle for the council’s press crew.
15. Installation of solar-powered electricity systems for the Legislative Arm and Administrative Block of the council.
16. Empowerment of 100 verified farmers with farm implements and a ₦100,000 cash grant each to boost food production.
17. Water reticulation project at Ubulu-Uno to improve water supply in underserved areas.
18. Interlocking stone paving of the Central Motor Park, Ogwashi-Uku.
19. Medical outreach programme covering all 11 wards of Aniocha South.
Speaking on behalf of beneficiary communities and traders, Mr. Chukwudi Utomi and Chief Chukwuemeka Peter (JP) expressed deep appreciation for the infrastructural strides recorded under the current administration, pledging that the market infrastructure and other legacy projects would be properly utilized and maintained.

Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Smart Ufoh ,Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Prince Kelly Penawou and the Former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Dr. Chris Agbobu.
Others are:Director Of Protocols to the Immediate Past Governor, Hon. Ifeanyi Eboigbe,Former National Lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Joan Ada Anioma as well as traditional rulers, market women, members of the clergy, political leaders, and a large cross-section of residents, all of whom lauded the council chairman for what they described as people-oriented and impactful governance.
