The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike on Tuesday, received a delegation from the Ogbe-Odogwu Council of Elders, Ogwashi-Uku, during a courtesy visit to his office.
Pastor Chukwunwike also reiterated the importance of community collaboration in ensuring sustainable security, calling on well-meaning individuals and local groups to support government’s efforts in grassroots policing.
The council boss thanked the community for their proactive stance, particularly in pledging to support the fight against crime and insecurity. He pledged his administration’s continued commitment to improving infrastructure and social welfare across Aniocha South, stating that the Three-Point Consolidatory Agenda of his government is structured to address the pressing needs of the people.

The delegation, led by Chief Gabriel Ohai, commended the council chairman for his visible strides in leadership and development. In his address, Chief Ohai noted that the visit was primarily to seek government intervention in tackling the recurring problem of flooding in Ogbe-Odogwu area.

He highlighted the urgent need for a functional drainage system to mitigate the risks posed by torrential downpours, which have become a perennial threat to lives and property.
Chief Ohai also used the opportunity to formally invite the council chairman and his team to the forthcoming Iwu Festival, a significant cultural event in Ogbe-Odogwu scheduled for August. He emphasized the importance of arts and culture in promoting tourism and requested government support to enhance the celebration.

Supporting the plea of the chairman on the fight against insecurity, Chief Ohai and members of the delegation assured the chairman that they would go back to the community to re-strategize and revamp their local vigilante operations in response to the rising incidents of kidnapping, robbery, and other social vices affecting peace and order in the area.
Dignitaries present at the meeting included the Secretary of Aniocha South Local Government, Hon. Prince Tony K Ebube , political appointees and Mr. John TeeJay Odiaka , Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman.
