Operatives of Delta state police command have gunned down one of the syndicates that brutally killed three police officers attached to Dragon patrol team on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the Oleh round about in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state.
The suspect was killed at Erewa Community bush in Isoko North Local Government Area by policemen of the command and arrested two suspects .
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe, in a press release, stated that following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Wale Abass, detailed a combined team of Policemen attached to Ozoro Area Command, Dragon Patrol to go after the attackers.
He further said with the support of troops from the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and members of the local vigilante group, the men swung into action, during which the team engaged the hoodlums in a serious gun duel, inflicted gunshot injuries on them before fleeing into the bush.
The team however traced their blood to a river where one AK-47 rifle was recovered on the same date of the incident.
The statement revealed that the response team sustained the tempo and continued the operation on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Acting on credible intelligence, they stormed Erewa community bush in Isoko North LGA, where they engaged the bandits in serious gun duel, neutralized one of them, arrested two others, recovered two more AK-47 rifles, one assault rifle, four magazines and twelve 7.62 AK-47 ammunition.
The statement further noted that efforts are on to track down other members of the syndicate.
