Rotary Club of Effurun has Organized a one -day sensitization and Awareness programme on the need for expectant and nursing mothers to practice exclusive Baby Friendly.
The club’s President, Rotarian Elvis Irefo stated that the initiative is a reflection of Rotary international maternal and child care aimed to reduce child and maternal mortality.
The sensitization and Awareness programme was held at the Alaka primary health care center, Alaka community, Uvwie local government area of Delta state.
He urged Nursing and expectant mothers to practice exclusive baby friendly as it forms the base of a child’s Immunity, Bonding and Development.

Rotarian Elvis Irefo observed that the effort is part of Rotary international seven area of focus which prioritizes physical, social and emotional wellness of humanity as baby friendly practice would lay a bright foundation for a child formative development.
The importance of exclusive breast feeding to a child especially for the first six months the Resource persons and a matron, Mrs Grace Ikoroje flanked by other health personnel said it is very important in combating diseases relating to children even as it develops a child’s capacity to build anti Bodies.
She urged the women to build bond with their children through exclusive breast feeding maintaining that health professionals should be consulted at all times to get standard medical services.
Other Rotarians including the Director project, Rotarian Micheal Enehizena, President- Elect Rotarian Aribogha Stephen as well as the public image chairperson, Rotarian Fovie Aghogho noted that the initiative is the club’s way of contributing to the well being of humanity especially mother and child.
They urged the women to take to heart the knowledge gained from experts present to ensure their safety and that of their infants.
The sensitization equally saw the club’s presenting gifts to the women assuring that the club will continue to do more in advance the course of society.
Representatives of the health center, nurse Ejiro Gloria on behalf of the women commended Rotary for the gesture and the opportunity for the women to learn simple Medical and social routines that guarantee their health.
