The Rotary Club of Effurun City Center, District 9141, has successfully empowered 15 youths with essential vehicle driving skills as part of its Community Economic Development initiative.
In an event held at Urhrumarho, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State the President of the Rotary Club, Rotarian Ighosharp Ighomrore, stated that the primary goal of the training is to equip unemployed youths with driving skills, enabling them to secure jobs as cab drivers.
He emphasized that this initiative aligns with one of Rotary’s international focus areas—Community Economic Development.
“I encourage all beneficiaries to attend every class during the training program,” said Rotarian Ighomrore, noting that successful participants will receive both driving school certificates and driving licenses.

The Project Chairman, Rotarian Darlington Odogun, reiterated the club’s commitment to empowering youths to help them earn a sustainable living.
One of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude towards the club for its initiative, pledging to take the training seriously as a step towards self-improvement.

In addition to the driving skills training, the club hosted the seminar “You and the Law,” featuring CSP Temi Zuokumor, the Ugborikoko Police Divisional Officer, who addressed the prevalence of youth-related vices in society. CSP Zuokumor, also a Rotarian and Past Assistant District Governor for Zone 13, encouraged young people to voice their concerns regarding societal issues.
She advised parents to pay closer attention to their children, particularly teenagers, to foster their development into better individuals within the community.
President of Rotary Club of Edjeba,Rotarian Rita Okonkwo, who attended the seminar also urged youths to avoid drug abuse and strive to be positive contributors to society.
