Rotary Club of Ekpan Sunrise has been inaugurated under Rotary International District 9141, with Rotarian Felix Okwelum installed as the club’s Charter President, in line with Rotary International’s membership drive to build a fellowship committed to selfless service to humanity.
The investiture ceremony, held at the Chevron Club, attracted Rotarians, dignitaries, captains of industry, colleagues and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the birth of the new club.

In his acceptance speech, Charter President Rotarian Felix Okwelum said the club has projected about N18.8 million for projects and programmes in the 2026/2027 Rotary year and appealed for support to achieve the targets.
He identified the provision of potable water to communities without access to clean water as one of the club’s major projects.
“This investiture provides another opportunity to impact lives in local communities,” Okwelum stated.
Rotary international District 9141 Governor, Rotarian Anthony Olikagu who was Represented by an Assistant Governor Rotarian Florence Chukwubuni urged the new club to give back to society through Rotary’s areas of focus, including economic empowerment, water and sanitation, peace and conflict resolution, maternal and child health, and basic education and literacy.
Keynote speaker, Past District Governor Rotarian Ikpewonsa Ogiemuda, represented by Past Assistant Governor Rotarian Mfon Otite Douglas, congratulated the club and its Charter President. He said Rotary membership should attract men and women committed to humanitarian service, friendship and unity.
Installation Committee Chairman, Rotarian Tunde Odjarenu, appreciated guests for celebrating the new club and its leadership, stressing that Rotary is about “Service Above Self.”
The highlight of the ceremony was the formal installation of Rotarian Felix Okwelum, the inauguration of the club’s board members, and the empowerment of 10 petty traders in Uvwie with interest-free loans of N100,000 each.
One of the beneficiaries described the gesture as significant relief for their businesses and an improvement in the living conditions of their families.
The event also featured a flag parade, induction of new members, and fundraising for projects planned for the 2026/2027 Rotary year.
The ceremony was attended by Rotarians from sister clubs ,members of DBS warri Sports Club, family members of the newly installed President,friends and associates of the Charter President.
