Rotary club of Ogunu Donates Free Reading Glasses to Ogunu, Ugbuwangue Residents in Warri South LGA

Rotary Club of Ogunu District 9141 has donated free reading glasses and offered free eye screening as well as correctional eye glasses to residents of Ogunu and Ugbuwangue communities in Warri South local government Area of Delta State .

The free eye care outreach took place at the primary health centres in Ogunu and Agbuwangue communities during the week.

Addressing the beneficiaries the President Rotary club of Ogunu ,Rotarian Sunny Popo said the donation of the free glasses and free eye screening was inline with one of Rotary’s seven area of focus and part of Rotary club humanitarian service to the people in the society.

Rotarian Popo disclosed that the club had earlier presented free interest loans to some artisans inorder to promote their Bussiness .

He charged residents of Ogunu and Ugbuwangue communities to always go for medical check ups.

The Project Chairman of Rotary club of Ogunu , Rtn Moses Maichibi disclosed that the donation of the reading glasses and free eye screening and correctional glasses was also inline with Rotary month of Disease prevention and treatment .

Rotarian Maichibi who was a former president of the club added that Rotary club of Ogunu has been in the forefront of assisting the needy in communities under it’s mandate areas .

Rtn. Maichibi who said the importance of eye care can not be overemphasized , urged the people of Ogunu and Ugbuwangue communities to always seek the help of opticians when they have issues with their eyes instead of engaging in self medication which may led to blindness .

Also speaking the an opthalmologist Dr Brenda Igumbor encouraged the beneficiaries to carryout eye check ups at least once every year .

She further explained that proper care of the eyes is a critical part of healthcare , stressing that the eyes serve as the light to the body .

Dr Igumbor commended members of Rotary club of Ogunu for the gesture , adding that most of the Beneficiaries may not have been able to afford the reading glasses due to the present economic hardship .

For their parts matron of Ogunu primary health centre Mrs Gladys Otomewo
And Matron Of Ugbuwangue primary health centre Mrs Roselyn wikili
represented by Mrs Violet Okpogor thanked Rotary club of Ogunu for the gesture .

About a hundred Beneficiaries from both communities recieved free reading glasses and correctional glasses.
Some of the Beneficiaries including mene Joseph appreciated Rotary club of Ogunu for the gesture , calling for more of such features from well-meaning clubs in Warri .
” I sincerely thank Rotary club of Ogunu for the gesture free of charge “
