The Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South local Government Area Of Delta State,HRM ( Dr.) Ogheneochuko Morris Eyekpimi-Egboboyen, Owhotemu II, has commended the Rotary Club of Warri Central for its contributions to humanity and community development.
The monarch made the commendation at his palace during an outdoor fellowship with members of the club, where he was also re-inducted into Rotary International.
Speaking during the fellowship, Owhotemu II acknowledged the good work the club is doing in his kingdom.
The Monarch assured club members that the palace would set up a committee to approve the club’s roundabout beautification proposal aimed at improving the aesthetics of the area.
He said he accepted to be re-inducted into the club and pledged to continue to contribute his quota to the service of humanity and the development of his kingdom.
President of the club, Rotarian Harose Igbudu, stated that the re-induction of the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom into Rotary International is part of activities to mark Rotary’s Membership Month.
She added that the ceremony is aimed at growing membership and showcasing Rotary’s impact on communities and traditional institutions for community development.
Guest speaker, Assistant District Governor Rotarian Sunny Oveisi, spoke on the benefits of being a Rotarian and informed chiefs and community leaders on how to become members of Rotary International.
He stated that Rotary International is majorly fighting to eradicate polio from the world to prevent children from being crippled by the disease.
He added that through its seven areas of focus, Rotary has renovated school buildings and laboratories, hospitals, provided drinking water to various communities, given free interest-free loans to traders, scholarships to students, delivery kits to pregnant women, and rendered free medical services, among others.
Also speaking, Past Assistant District Governor Rotarian Wilson Kokarhaye informed the monarch that Rotary International District 9141 Governor, Rotarian Anthony Olikagu, is happy with the monarch and commended him for his contribution to humanity.
The highlight of the fellowship was the induction of a new member into the Rotary Club of Warri Central. The new inductee was decorated with a pin by the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, HRM Dr. Ogheneochuko Morris Eyekpimi-Egboboyen, Owhotemu II.
