….Budget of Divine Grace” for 2026
EFFURUN, Delta State – The Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Anthony Onoriode Ofoni (JP), on Tuesday presented the 2026 proposed budget estimate of Eleven Billion,four hundred and fifty seven million five hundred and Eighty three thousand ,one hundred naira ,thirty one Kobo to Uvwie local government legislative arm.
Chief Ofoni christened the new budget as the “Budget of Divine Grace,” reflecting reliance on divine assistance for wise governance and project completion.
He emphasized commitment to prudent management and community development,stressing that the budget is designed to encourage economic activities and strengthen the councils internally generated revenue as well as ensure fiscal discipline on all sides .
Hon. Ofoni noted the previous year’s budget was executed responsibly, enabling the completion of key projects like the Ekpan and Ugboroke Modern Markets and an Ultra Modern Cottage Hospital in Iteregbi.
According to the Uvwie council Boss the proposed budget totals Eleven Billion,four hundred and fifty seven million five hundred and Eighty three thousand ,one hundred naira ,thirty one Kobo (N11,457,583,100.31), targeting ongoing project completion while aligning with the M.O.R.E agenda of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori

He noted that this year’s estimated Budget focused on infrastructure development, job creation, and poverty alleviation which is designed to enhance the well-being of Uvwie residents.
The breakdown of the budget allocations reveals:
– Recurrent Expenditure: N6,029,954,139.87
– Capital Expenditure: N5,427,628,960.31 representing 47.37% of total budget.
Chief Ofoni disclosed that Key areas of capital expenditure included asset purchase, construction projects, and social initiatives such as youth development and environmental improvement.
The Executive Chairman concluded the presentation by urging prompt deliberations among the councilors for the budget’s swift passage.
The leader of the Uvwie Legislative arm, Rt .Hon. Urueshyi Rire Okejera called for a motion to receive the proposed Budget estimate for the year 2026 fiscal year.
The motion of acceptance was moved by Honourable Jerry Adjeke and seconded by Honourable Steven Odiobara on the floor of the Uvwie Legislative Arm.
The Leader of the Uvwie Legislative Arm , Honourable Rire Okejira commended the Uvwie local government chairman, Chief Anthony Ofoni for executing legacy projects in the local government area.
