A 300-level student of English and Literary Studies at the University of Benin, Miss Amarachi Okonkwo, has drawn admiration in Warri after she was sighted hawking Ukpa, a popular Igbo delicacy, along Odion Road,Warri South local Government Area of Delta State .
The 21-year-old undergraduate, who spoke with our correspondent, said she has been in the business of hawking Ukpa even before gaining admission into the university.
According to her, she continues the trade to support her mother and finance her education.
“I have been hawking Ukpa before I got admission. I am doing it to support my mother,” Miss Okonkwo said proudly during the chat.

One of her regular customers, Comrade Peter Gokeme, who owns a Patent Medicine Store along Odion Road, commended the student for her diligence.
He described her courage as uncommon, noting that it is rare to see a lady of her academic status and beauty engaged in street hawking.
He also praised Miss Okonkwo’s parents for instilling good values in her.
Also speaking, a commercial tricycle, ( keke )rider, Mr. James Agbamitoto, lauded the undergraduate, describing her as “the kind of female child parents should pray to have.”
The story of Miss Okonkwo has continued to generate positive reactions among residents of the area who described her as hardworking and determined.
