The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, has joined citizens and residents of Delta State in celebrating the state’s 35th year of statehood, describing the milestone as a testament to decades of growth, resilience, development and transformation since its creation.
In a goodwill message conveyed by his spokesman, Jonathan Oyem, Chukwunwike said the anniversary provides an important opportunity for Deltans to reflect on the achievements recorded over the past three and a half decades, acknowledge the challenges overcome, and renew their collective commitment to building a more prosperous, peaceful and united state.
He described the story of Delta State as one of perseverance and collective effort, noting that successive administrations, traditional institutions, community leaders, workers, entrepreneurs, youths and citizens have all contributed in different ways to the state’s development.
Chukwunwike congratulated Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, former military administrators who governed the state,as well as former civilian governors of the state, past and present political leaders, public servants and the entire people of Delta State on the anniversary, stressing that the progress recorded over the years has been made possible through shared responsibility, sacrifice, determination and the contributions of people across the state.
The Aniocha South Council Chairman emphasised the need to sustain the developmental gains of the past 35 years through purposeful leadership, responsible citizenship, inclusive governance and continued investment in critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, youth development and the local economy.
He particularly called for patience, understanding and prayers as leaders at all levels continue to confront the challenges of development, urging Deltans to remain united and supportive of initiatives designed to improve the quality of life of the people.
According to him, the 35th anniversary should not be viewed merely as a celebration of the past, but as a renewed call to action for a stronger and more prosperous future. He stressed that the legacy of transformation must be sustained by creating opportunities for young people, strengthening infrastructure, improving healthcare and education, promoting security, supporting local enterprise and ensuring that development reaches communities across the state.
He expressed optimism that Delta State would continue to occupy a leading position in Nigeria’s development landscape given the economic and investment roadmap charted by the Governor and sitting on the four pillars of the MORE agenda, urging citizens to protect the peace, unity and stability that remain essential to sustainable progress.
“The 35th anniversary is a celebration of how far Delta State has come and a reminder of the greater possibilities ahead. We must continue to work together, support one another and pray for our leaders. With unity, patience, understanding and purposeful leadership, we can build the Delta State we all desire,” he said.
Chukwunwike further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to contributing to the development of Aniocha South and supporting the broader vision of a peaceful, progressive and prosperous Delta State.
As Delta State clocks 35, Chukwunwike’s message is one of gratitude for the journey so far, confidence in the future and a renewed commitment to the collective task of building a state defined by growth, resilience, unity and a lasting legacy of transformation.
