ANIOCHA SOUTH, DELTA STATE – In response to the tragic killing of Mr. Emmanuel Ekwunwa, a palm wine tapper attacked while working on his farm,the Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government, Hon. (Pastor ) Jude Chukwunwike has directed security agencies to intensify efforts in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators.
During a condolence visit to Ekwunwa’s family at Udo Quarters in Ubulu-Uku, Chukwunwike reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing the local government’s security framework. He emphasized that maintaining security is a collective responsibility and vowed that criminal elements would not find refuge in Aniocha South.
Addressing key security personnel—including Police Area Commander ACP Akpan Daniel Okon, Divisional Police Officer CSP Solomon Okoyomon, DSS Director Mrs. Nkeiru Okeke, and Army Captain A. B. Iliyasu—Chukwunwike urged them to maintain operational momentum and professionalism. He called for sustained intelligence-led patrols and comprehensive responses until justice is served.
“As government representatives in the field, we must diligently pursue those responsible for this heinous act,” he stated. “While no security system is infallible, we must exert our best efforts and seek divine guidance in this endeavor.”
The chairman was welcomed by local community leaders, including Ward 5B Councillor Hon. Martin Uche Okocha, who, along with political appointees and youths from Udo Quarters, joined the visit to provide solidarity to the grieving family. Pastor Chukwunwike offered prayers and words of comfort to Mrs. Ngozi Ekwunwa and her children, pledging ongoing support during this challenging time.
Chukwunwike assured residents that his administration would collaborate closely with security agencies to strengthen preventive measures, enhance community engagement, and ensure accountability, reiterating that the safety of lives and property is a top priority.
