In support to the Delta State Government to ameliorate the sufferings of flood victims , Nigeria Exploration and Production Limited , NEPL, ND Western, Operators of OML 34 Asset Management Team, AMT have donated Truck loads of Relief Materials to thousands of inmates of the Internally Displaced Persons IDP’s in Otu -Jeremi and Okwagbe communities, both in Ughelli South local Government Area of Delta state .
For inmates of IDP’S Camps at Otu -Jeremi and Okwagbe the relief materials brought to them was like water on an arid land.
They celebrated as the truck load bearing the Relief materials from Nigeria Exploration and Production Limited , NEPL, ND Western Operators of OML 34 Asset Management Team,AMT arrived.
Items donated were Bags of Rice, Garri, Beans, Salt, Beverages , Detergents, Sleeping materials , Mosquitoes nets amongst others
The commandant’s of both camps Comrade Nicholas Okaredje and Mr Michael Oghenegueke said they have almost run out of food items before the arrival of the truck load of Relief materials .
They appreciated the managements of the companies for the gesture and assured that the items will be distributed properly among the inmates and appealed to good spirited Nigerians to continue to assist them.
The Manager Government,Community Relations And Security ,Mr Sheidu Aiguedo said the company was touched by the devastation brought on the people by the flood and decided to assist by complimenting the efforts of Delta State Government.
He expressed the hope that the donation will restore smiles on the faces of the flood victims .
Mr. Aiguedo disclosed that the managements of Nigeria Exploration and Production Limited , NEPL, ND Western OML 34 AMT also deemed it fit as part of their corporate social responsibilities
to assist the flood victims in their areas of operation as well as neighbouring communities.
He said as the flood continues to recede the people will to get back on their feet again and added that the company was initiating moves to improve the economic wellbeing of the people since their farms had been destroyed by the flood .
The companies also visited the chairman of Monarchs in OML 34 areas the Okobaro of Ughievwen kingdom , Owahwa the second to donates relief items to him for delivery to other monarchs and their flood impacted people as a way of also assisting them.
The Okobaro of Ughievwen kingdom,Owahwa the second thanked NEPL OML 34 AMT ND Western for the gesture and prayed God to continue to increase the company and gave an assurance that the communities under OML34 would continue to support them with the enabling environment to carry out their operations.
