The Uvwie Local Government Council has officially called for an expedited investigation into the killing of Mr. Oghenemine Ogidi, allegedly by a police officer.
In a press release signed by Council Secretary Mr. Grayham Osakwe, the Executive Chairman expressed “profound sadness” over the incident and confirmed that the officer involved is currently in custody.
Uvwie Council urged the Nigeria Police Force to ensure a transparent and credible investigation to deliver justice for the victim’s family.
The council advised Residents to remain calm and law-abiding while authorities work to maintain peace and security in the area.

PRESS RELEASE ON THE UNFORTUNATE KILLING OF MR. OGHENEMINE OGIDI
The Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council expresses deep shock and profound sadness over the unfortunate killing of Mr. Oghenemine Ogidi extends heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. We share in your grief and pray that God will grant you the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
While we acknowledge the Police for their swift response in ensuring that the officer involved has been arrested, we respectfully call on the Nigerian Police Force to expedite the investigations of this matter with a view to ensuring a thorough, transparent and credible outcome and that justice is full served, according to the Law.
We wish to assure all residents that Uvwie Local Government Council respects the sanctity of the human life and the security of all citizens and we will not fold our hands until justice has been done concerning the killing of Mr. Oghenemine Ogidi.
We also call on members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding and to go about their businesses without fear of molestation as we continue to cooperate with Security Agencies. Let us continue to work together to build a safer and more secured environment bearing in mind that peace and security is our collective responsibility.
