In a communique released on Tuesday May 5th ,2026 the women’s advocacy group led by their President Mrs Vivian Mene called for an immediate investigation into the activities of high-ranking officials within the company.
The group specifically named five individuals including top managers in Maintenance, Turnaround, and Medical departments alleging they are orchestrating a scheme to displace local workers.
The group has specifically called on Chevron Management to order Mr. Igwe V.G.M., Mr. Obi – Maintenance Support Coordinator, Mr. Aroeye, Dr Raphael and Mr. Obina , Turnaround Manager to cease what they described as discriminatory labor tactics to prevent indigenous applicants from working with Chevron
The warri kingdom women Initiative claims that Chevron management is utilizing deceptive tactics, described as “fake formats,” to prematurely terminate the contracts of Itsekiri workers.
According to the group, these workers are being told their contracts have expired, only for the positions to be immediately filled by individuals of Igbo descent.
Furthermore, the protesters allege that these new hires are being given permanent staff status and converted to full-time Chevron employees, a privilege they claim is being systematically denied to the host community members.
The group also disclosed that 10 Itsekiri technicians from Sapele who were reportedly recruited for ongoing maintenance projects after being invited for mandatory medical screenings were intentionally blocked from completing the process upon arrival at the facility.
“This is a wicked agenda to ensure our people do not work,” Mrs Vivian Mene stated.
