Agbarha Warri community of Edjeba in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has honoured foremost Agbarha Warri Kingdom socio cultural Association, Agbarha Warri League with an award of excellence for it’s immense contributions towards the Development of the ancient Urhobo Kingdom of Agbarha Warri at the weekend.
A citation of the Association that was read shortly before the award indicated that ” the idea of forming Agbarha Warri League was mooted over 38 years ago by Mr Ambrose Ologide out of an innate desire for the cultural and socio political emancipation of Agbarha Warri people “
In the citation, Mr Williams Ope Jnr and Amos Ikpuri were also mentioned as co-founders of the foremost Agbarha Warri socio cultural Association.
Other founding members of Agbarha Warri League according to the citation were Chief Emmanuel Ememu JP, Hon Abraham Obrotu, Elder Young Shanomi, Elder Steve Izobo, Ms Maureen Okene, Mrs Florence Egbabolue, Chief Efe Marvins Edjeba- Uti
” that contributed to the success of the story of Agbarha Warri Kingdom today through their membership of the Association and who are still members of the patriotic and prestigious association ” the citation added.
Some of the land mark contributions of Agbarha Warri League to the Development of Agbarha Warri Kingdom according to the citation were the actualization of Government recognised Agbarha Warri monarchy, membership of Delta State House of Assembly , creating brotherly cohesion with the seven communities of Agbarha Warri Kingdom among others.
The citation also indicated that membership of the great Association was over Eighty and that it also cut cuts across the seven communities of Agbarha Warri Kingdom.
The president of the Association, Igbudu born former Super Eagles midfield Mr Fudulu Edema who spoke to newsmen shortly after the event expressed appreciation to Edjeba Agbarha Warri Community for recognising the contributions of Association towards the Developments of the ancient Urhobo Kingdom of Agbarha Warri with an honour.
The President General of Agbarha Warri Improvement Union, Chief Emmanuel Ememu( JP )and Chief Pius Omasanuwa were also given awards of excellence by the community.
Omasanuwa expressed appreciation to Edjeba Community as he said that the award will spur him to do more for the community and humanity.
The Oghwuvwie ( President) of the community , Comrade Ejiro Ibuakevwe had earlier explained that the awards were in recognition of the contributions of the awardees to the Development of Edjeba Community and Agbarha Warri Kingdom.
Highpoint of the Epoch making event was the presentation of the award to the president of Agbarha Warri League and other awardees by HRM London Aforkerhi Itu JP Ememoh 11 the Ovie of Agbarha Warri Kingdom .
