Warri based legal luminary and author, Chief Andi Kayoma Osawota has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call a constitutional conference as a solution to the problems confronting Nigeria.
The call was contained in his 34 chapter book titled : ‘”The Contraption Called Nigeria” Osawota who is also a chartered accountant, member of Nigeria Institute of Arbitration and Chartered Institute of Taxation made the call in an interesting exclusive media interaction with our correspondent on Tuesday 21 January, 2025.
While explaining the purpose for writing the book, he stated that “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has come to show us with a ray of hope.
” We want him to look at some of the solutions we proffer for him to call a Constitutional Conference, to move back Nigeria to regional or confederation. So that at the end of the day, Nigeria will jump up and give us a pride of place called Nigeria ”
Osawota who gave an insight of the 34 chapter book lucidly traced the political history of Nigeria right from the colonial era through the military era to the first, second and the third republics of our dear country.
The renowned economist also talked about ailing industries and companies such as Delta Steel Company ( DSC ) Ovwian/ Aladja, NNPC among others.
Osawota a former Executive Secretary of DESOPADEC who bears the exalted chieftaincy title of the Ogba ( strong man ) of Orogun Kingdom explained that the book also traced the various stages of Nigeria’ a constitutional developments with some emphasis on Lyttleton ‘ s Construction of 1954 where he said minority rights were heavily canvassed for .
