Women of the Angalabiri Federated Community in Sagbama Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, on Wednesday staged a community rally through Angalabiri Town to reaffirm their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The rally brought together women from the various communities within the federation. The gathering was marked by songs, chants and other forms of community expression, creating a lively atmosphere across the town.
According to the participants, their position is informed by expectations of progressive leadership, development, inclusion and improved opportunities for families and communities. They also noted that the rally reflected the organisational capacity of the women’s network and their willingness to participate in the political process.
The event also highlighted the role of women’s groups in community affairs and grassroots political activities, as well as in issues affecting families, livelihoods and local development.
Joining the women during the rally was Hon. Jackson Jacko-Embale, popularly known as Abade-Ofoni. His presence provided an opportunity for further interaction with members of the community.
Abade-Ofoni expressed appreciation to the women for their reception and participation, and acknowledged the importance of continued engagement with community stakeholders.
The engagement forms part of the continuing programme of grassroots stakeholder consultations being undertaken across Sagbama Constituency I. Organisers said the programme is designed to strengthen community-level relationships and maintain regular interaction with stakeholders.
The rally ended peacefully, with participants reaffirming the importance of unity, participation and constructive engagement within the community.
