The Rotary Club of Uvwie Renaissance and Rotary Club of Osubi, have taken maternal and child health services to Osubi and Alaka Health Centres in Uvwie and Okpe Local Government Areas of Delta State.
The outreach held on Wednesday and Thursday focused on pregnant women with health education, counseling and distribution of delivery kits.

Members of both clubs turned out in large numbers to sensitize mothers on antenatal care, safe delivery practices, exclusive breastfeeding, immunization and proper nutrition.
Health workers and Rotarians at the centre urged women to prioritize regular clinic visits instead of waiting until complications arise.

Delivery packs and baby care items were also distributed to mothers at the facility.
Speaking during the outreach, the Presidents of Rotary Club of Uvwie Renaissance and Rotary Club of Osubi, Rtn. Ekaette Fadairo and Rtn. Florence Akande, said maternal and child health remains one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus.
“This project is aimed at reducing preventable maternal and child deaths and giving every child a healthy start in life,” they stated.

Also speaking, Assistant District Governor Rotarian Bridget Ideji, along with Past Assistant District Governors Rotarians Suala Yeri and Kehinde Oisemaye, urged expectant mothers to take routine drugs and keep up with scheduled antenatal check-ups.
They explained that Rotarians are professionals from different occupations who have come together to serve humanity and put smiles on the faces of indigent people.
The Expectant Women from Osubi and Alaka communities expressed gratitude to the two clubs for bringing healthcare services closer to them.
The event was attended by high-ranking Rotarians and members of both clubs.
It was another day of “Service Above Self”for Rotary in Delta.
