Staff and appointees of the Uvwie Local Government Council have paid a condolence visit to the Executive Chairman, Chief Anthony Ofoni over the passing of his eldest brother, Mr. Sunday Ofoni.
The delegation, led by the Vice Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Andrew Agagbo, visited the Chairman at his residence in Effurun to register their heartfelt sympathies with him and the entire Ofoni family.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Agagbo described death as inevitable, but urged the Chairman to take solace in the fact that the late Mr. Sunday Ofoni lived a life characterized by love, cheerfulness and service to humanity.
He said the late Ofoni was always graceful and ready to offer service wherever he found himself, noting that his qualities reflected the depth of love he had for people.“The seed of love sown by the Chairman’s late brother should always be nurtured by those who are left behind to mourn him,” Agagbo stated.
He further charged those alive to strive to be better in character and disposition, as no man is assured of living eternally on earth.
The swift response by management staff, staff and appointees to the sad news, according to observers, reflects the cordial relationship between the Council Chairman and workers, and their concern for his welfare.
The delegation also offered prayers for the Chairman, his household and extended family, seeking God’s protection and involvement in their affairs.
Among those present were the Speaker of the Uvwie Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon. Rire Uruesheyi, Secretary to Uvwie LGC, Sir Graham Alakabrukeme Osakwe, HPM, Mrs Juliana Manager, NULGE Chairman, Mrs Mercy Ugava, HODs, supervisory councillors, and other council officials and appointees including Hon. Eric Keyamu, Hon. Olu Alloy, Hon. Gibson Agbamu, Hon. Stephen Odiobara, Hon. Edirin Niemogha, Hon. Stanley Ajemijaye and Hon. Tina Ashubu.
The Uvwie Council workers said the visit was also to reaffirm their support for the Ofoni-led administration, which they noted has brought peace, progress and unprecedented development to the council area.
