A tanker loaded with petroleum product on Wednesday fell across Udu bridge in Udu Local Government Area, causing a major traffic challenge for motorists on that route.
Actualnewsng.com gathered that some persons say the truck driver
may have lost control due to brake failure.
The bridge presently traverses Udu and Uvwie Local Government Areas, but people say it needs urgent attention to ease transportation across the two Local Government Area.
It was also gathered that the truck was heading from Enerhen to Udu Local Government Area when the incident occurred.
The situation has made security agents to station at the scene of the incident to stop all vehicular vehicles, from going through the bridge to prevent explosion.
Men of the Delta State fire service have been stationed at the scene to forestall any
possible fire out break.
Passengers travelling to and from Udu are presently stranded as they are not allowed to cross.
As the time of this report, the tanker was still on the Udu bridge.
Residents have now resorted to the alternate routes in Udu Local Government Area
through the NPA/DSC Express Way.
Some persons were seen under the bridge scooping leaking petrol from the truck
A senior official of the petroleum monitoring and State Co-ordinator NMDPRA, Victor Ohwodiasa said the truck loaded with petrol is precariously hanging on Udu Bridge with the product leaking.
He advised motorists and people generally to avoid that area in case of any fire out break or an explosion.
He also cautioned people against going near the truck and scooping the leaking petrol
because of the danger involved.
