Four Rotary Clubs in Warri South, Okpe, Uvwie and Ughelli South Local Government Areas under Rotary International District 9141 on Tuesday donated delivery kits to expectant mothers.
The Joint Project was executed by Rotary Club of Effurun Gateway, Rotary Club of Okpe, Rotary Club of Plantation City and Rotary Club of Warri Central.
The donation took place at the Cottage Hospital, Warri, Upper Erejuwa Road in Warri South LGA, where over 50 expectant mothers were present for their regular antenatal care.
Speaking during the outreach, the Presidents of the four clubs Rotarians Churchill Tebite of Effurun Gateway, Alex Ilenikhena of Okpe, Harose Igbudu of Warri Central and the project chairman of
Plantation City,Peter Francis
said July is set aside in the Rotary International calendar as Maternal and Child Health Month.
They noted that the donation aligns with one of Rotary International’s seven areas of focus, and is aimed at reducing maternal mortality and supporting the hygiene of pregnant women.
The Rotarians advised the expectant mothers to take their routine drugs regularly and maintain good personal hygiene during pregnancy.
Also speaking, Assistant District Governors for Areas 41 and 42, Rotarians Faith Ovie and Bridget Ideji, along with Past Assistant District Governor, Rotarian Festus Esharenana, said the District Governor, Rotarian Anthony Olikagu, is pleased with the clubs for the initiative to put smiles on the faces of indigent expectant mothers.
They urged the women to always visit the clinic whenever they have health concerns.
Some of the beneficiaries thanked Rotary for the gesture, saying the delivery kits have reduced their financial burden.
They prayed God to bless the Rotarians for their service to humanity.
