2027: Omo-Agege Seeks CPGG Prayers, Pledges To Build On Previous Achievements

The NDC candidate for Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ovie Omo-Age, has appealed to the Concerned Pastors for Good Governance, CPGG, for prayers, unity, and partnership ahead of the 2027 elections, pledging to build on his previous achievements in the district.

Omo-Agege made the appeal on Friday during a meeting with the CPGG Delta Central Chapter held at Wetland Hotel, Ughelli.

He commended the group for its role in speaking truth to power, saying “your name tells me exactly who you are — Concerned Pastors for Good Governance isn’t just a title you carry, it’s a job you actually do.”

Acknowledging the current economic hardship, the former Deputy President of the 9th Senate said families are stretched, youths are restless, and insecurity continues to threaten peace in Urhobo land and across Delta Central.

He quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14, stressing that healing for the land begins with prayer but must translate into responsible leadership.

Highlighting his record from 2015 to 2023, Omo-Age listed the establishment laws for the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun; a federal polytechnic and Defence Space School in Orogun; the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences in Kwale; and an Oil and Gas Industrial Park in Delta.

He added that he also championed the Petroleum Industry Act and the Electoral Act, and facilitated roads, hospitals, schools, water projects, solar street lights, transformers, and empowerment schemes across all eight LGAs of Delta Central.

“I’m not here with a list of new promises. I’m here to keep building on what we already started,” he said.

The NDC candidate asked CPGG for three things: continued prayers for Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria.

Omo-Agege also canvassed support for the NDC at all levels, naming Peter Obi as the party’s presidential candidate and Chris Iyovwaye as its governorship candidate in Delta State.

He pledged to work with Obi to move Nigeria “from consumption to production, from dependence to self-sufficiency.”

Giving his covenant to the people, he said: “if you give me this mandate again in 2027, I’ll go back to Abuja with more experience, more capacity, and more access than before — and I’ll use all of it for you.”

He promised accessible and accountable representation, job creation for youths, improved healthcare, clean water, motorable roads across the district, and support for women, widows and the vulnerable.

Earlier the President of the body, Bishop Israel Ugono, said the body whose primary objective is to support political leaders with good intentions has adopted Agege as the sole candidate for the Delta Central Senatorial seat because of his track record as a man whose interest was to attract development to Delta State.

He said the group is committed to supporting Agege through prayers.

“We are concerned about good Governance. Our objective is to support and pray for leaders who have good intentions for the clergy as well as their followers”, the cleric stated.
