PATANI – Council Chairmen from the eight Local Government Areas in Delta South Senatorial District have resolved to strengthen joint security operations and intelligence sharing to tackle rising criminal activities across the zone.
The resolution was reached on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, during the Delta South Zonal Security Meeting convened in Patani by the Council Chairmen in their capacity as Chief Security Officers of their respective Local Government Areas.
In attendance were the Chairmen of Bomadi, Burutu, Isoko North, Isoko South, Patani, Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West.

Also present were Divisional Police Officers, representatives of the Joint Task Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA, vigilante groups and other security stakeholders.
The meeting undertook a comprehensive review of the security situation in Delta South and focused on enhancing collaboration among councils, improving intelligence sharing, and evolving practical strategies against kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, illegal bunkering, drug abuse and other crimes.

Speaking at the meeting, the Executive Chairman of Bomadi LGA, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, said security remains the foundation for development, noting that no society can achieve sustainable growth in an atmosphere of insecurity.
He commended the initiative and called for sustained synergy among Council Chairmen, security agencies, traditional institutions and community leaders to safeguard lives and property.
“The increasing sophistication of criminal activities demands a united and proactive response rather than isolated efforts,” Andaye stated. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through collaboration, timely interventions and policies that promote peace and public confidence in Bomadi and across Delta South.

The Council Chairmen unanimously agreed that the meeting was timely and necessary to sustain the relative peace in the zone. They resolved to institutionalize the Delta South Zonal Security Meeting as a regular platform for consultation, intelligence sharing and coordinated responses.
The meeting concluded with a collective pledge by all stakeholders to deepen inter-council cooperation and create a secure environment for sustainable development across Delta South Senatorial District.
