The Unuevworo of Uvwie Kingdom, High Chief Hope Akasa (JP) has advised the Itsekiris monarch, His Majesty Atuwatse 111 on the need to sustain the existing cordial relationship between the Itsekiris and Uvwie people.
Akasa who is the highest traditional chief in Uvwie Kingdom, gave the advice in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent at his Alaka Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area last weekend, following the failed attempt of the Itsekiri monarch’ s visitation to Ugbenowhorun Community in Uvwie Local Government Area of which the Uvwie people vehemently opposed to , recently.

The respected high chief of Uvwie Kingdom noted that the attempted visitation of Atuwatse 111 to Ugbenowhorun Community was an affront to the revered monarch of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso JP OON Abe 1, as he pointed out that Ugbenowhorun Community is in Uvwie Kingdom, the domain of Uvwie monarch. ” We only have one king in Uvwie Kingdom; that is HRM Abe 1. That is why the attempted visitation of the Itsekiri monarch to Ugbenowhorun Community generated a lot of heats.
” The Itsekiris in Ugbenowhorun Community and Uvwie people have always lived in peace because most of them are related to Uvwie Kingdom.
” Right from time immemorial, no Itsekiri monarch, including the father of the reigning Itsekiri monarch, Atuwatse 11 made such an attempt” he recalled.
Akasa also recalled that the Itsekiris in Warri vehemently opposed the bill board display of Ogbe Ijoh monarch ‘ s birthday anniversary in Warri and that this led to a serious fracas between the Ogbe – Ijoh and Itsekiris.

Akasa then advised the Itsekiris monarch not be misled by wrong advisers , stressing that there is the need for the long existing cordial relationship between Uvwie and Itsekiris to be sustained and to avoid issues that led to the rancour between Okpe people and Itsekiris in Sapele and between the Itsekiris and other indigenous ethnic groups in Warri
