Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, and the Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, were among dignitaries who bid farewell to Late Mrs. Beniyeregha Rose Yingi, aged 92, on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Okpokounou, in Burutu Local Government Area.
The late Mrs. Yingi was the beloved mother of a respected elder statesman and former member representing Burutu Constituency 1 at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Daniel Yingi.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon. (Prince) Johnson Erijo, Governor Oborevwori, while consoling the Yingi family, tasked them to take solace in the impactful life of godliness and good neighbourliness their matriarch exemplified while alive.
In his remarks, the Bomadi Council Boss, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, described Mama’s passing as a profound loss, but noted that her long and impactful life was a testament to the enduring values of motherhood, family and community.
While commiserating with Hon. Daniel Yingi and the entire family, he urged them to find strength in the remarkable legacy of their beloved departed matriarch and the virtues she imparted throughout her lifetime.
Andaye further encouraged Hon. Dan Yingi to remain strong and consoled by the cherished memories of his mother, assuring him that her enduring legacy would continue to live on through her children, family and the wider community.
Shortly after the burial ceremony, Chairman Andaye, alongside Hon. Johnson Erijo and his wife, Hon. Mrs. Rejoice Andaye, returned to his country home in Kpakiama, where they received the First Lady of Delta State and mother of the State, Her Excellency, Deaconess Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, fondly known as Mama Delta.
The maiden visit of Mama Delta to the Andaye residence was greeted with a colourful display of Ijaw culture and hospitality, as the people of Kpakiama turned out in large numbers to accord her a warm and memorable reception.
The overwhelming reception was a vivid expression of the love, admiration and respect the people of Kpakiama hold for Mama Delta, while the cultural display further highlighted the richness and beauty of the Ijaw heritage.
Chairman Andaye expressed profound appreciation to Her Excellency for honouring his family and the people of Kpakiama with her maiden visit, describing her presence as a deeply cherished moment and a testament to the warmth and unity that bind the people of Delta State.
The day’s engagements, which combined a solemn farewell to a revered matriarch with a warm reception for the First Lady, reflected the enduring values of family, culture, compassion and communal solidarity that continue to define the people of Delta State.
