The Bomadi Local Government Council has commenced the clearing of overgrown weeds along the Gbaregolor–Ogriagbene road to improve visibility, enhance safety and ensure free flow of traffic for motorists and commuters.

The exercise was ordered by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, following complaints from road users and residents that thick grasses had encroached both sides of the roadway, narrowing portions of the route and posing risks to travelers.

In a statement on Saturday, the Council said the directive was given to the Department of Environment to immediately clear the affected areas after the deteriorating condition of the corridor was brought to its attention.

“The environmental intervention is aimed at restoring clear visibility, improving the free flow of traffic, and ensuring that residents and travelers can use the road safely without the fear of accidents or security threats often associated with overgrown bushes along major access roads,” the statement said.

Speaking on the exercise, Hon. Andaye reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to proactive governance and prompt response to issues affecting public welfare.

“The safety of our people is non-negotiable. Once this issue was brought to our attention, it became necessary to act without delay. We will continue to respond swiftly to issues that threaten the well-being of our residents and ensure that our roads remain safe and accessible for everyone,” the Chairman stated.

Residents and road users along the corridor have welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and commendable.

The Council added that it remains committed to sustaining environmental sanitation, improving public infrastructure, and implementing people-oriented initiatives that promote safety, accessibility, and sustainable development across Bomadi Local Government Area.
