Some protesters decorated their keke with fresh green leaves and others were seen engaged in hot arguments with the ticket sellers.

One of the protesters, who identified himself as Effiong Akpan spoke to our correspondent as he alleged that they were asked to pay twelve thousand naira for stickers and purchase of traffic apron and refuse basket as against the previous annual two thousand naira for stickers .
” The financial burden will be too much for us if you add the daily purchase of three thousand naira for tickets, price of fuel and maintenance of our keke .
” We also pay levies for carrying passengers in places like Pessu Market and Market Road.” he added .

However one of the sticker sellers who declined to identify himself , explained that the introduction of apron and waste basket was for security reasons and keeping a cleaner environment respectively.

He stressed that disruption of traffic flow was a breach of peace.

The encounter between the protesters and Hon Okorodiden was still on as at the time of filing this report.
