The Rotary Club of Ogunu, District 9141, has installed Rotarian Austin Edon as its 9th President for the 2026/2027 Rotary year.
The investiture ceremony was held at the Chevron Recreational Centre Edjeba in Warri Delta State and was attended by Rotary leadership and members from across and outside the District, including the Executive Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Weyimi Agbateyinero.
The installation marks another smooth leadership transition for the club, which is known for its humanitarian services across its mandate areas.
Delivering his valedictory speech, the outgoing President, Rotarian Osamuyi Omokha, said the Rotary Club of Ogunu executed key projects and programmes that impacted communities during the 2025/2026 Rotary year.
He solicited support for the incoming President and described Rotarian Edon as “a square peg in a square hole” who has served in various capacities in Rotary.
“I am confident in his capacity to exceed our achievements aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the communities we serve,” Omokha said.
The Chairman of the Installation Committee, Rotarian Onome, said Rotary International has continued to stand in the gap to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable in society.
He added that the installation of Rotarian Edon reflects the club’s commitment to sustaining the vision of Rotary as a global body of selfless service to humanity.
The Chairman of Warri South, Hon. Weyimi Agbateyinero, flanked by his Vice, appreciated the club for its passion for the advancement of humanity through key projects that reflect the needs of the people.
He lauded Rotary International for its global contributions in the fight against polio and assured the Rotary Club of Ogunu of the council’s support in its programmes.

In his acceptance speech, the newly installed President, Rotarian Austin Edon, thanked members of the Rotary Club of Ogunu for the confidence reposed in him and Rotary International for the opportunity to serve humanity.
Rotarian Edon disclosed that the club’s star project for the year is “Dusk to Desk,” aimed at providing desks to schools within its mandate areas.
He said the project aligns with Rotary International’s focus on Basic Education and Literacy.
He called for support, stressing that Rotary remains fully committed to social upliftment and charitable ventures that touch the core of society.
Highlights of the ceremony included the formal investiture of Rotarian Austin Edon, inauguration of board members, induction of new members, and fundraising for projects and programmes lined up for the 2026/2027 Rotary year.
