He noted that the huge investments in human capacity development had greatly reflected positively in the highly productive workforce in Delta State, and that members of the State Media and Communication Council have collectively worked harmoniously to enhance professional standards in government public information management.

Dr Oghenesivbe who is also the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, said the ongoing National Spokespersons Summit is the highest capacity building platform for public and private spokespersons in Nigeria, saying that with the professional knowledge acquired, participants are equipped to perform better in their assigned responsibilities in public information management, and as government and corporate image managers.

The Bureau Chief emphasized the need for spokespersons to deploy strategic combinations of the Press Agentry/Publicity model with the Public Information Model, so as to achieve a highly proactive two-way communication system that ensures mutual understanding, build public trust and integrity, noting that members of the public or the governed are the major focus and reason for public information management in governance.

“I commend my leader and Boss, the governor of Delta State, Dr (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori over his unwavering commitment to build human capacity in all ministries, departments and agencies, for which I am one of the proud beneficiaries.

“Yesterday, we were privileged to have past federal ministers of Information at the Summit, about seven of them including; incumbent Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris Malaji, Prof Jerry Gana, Frank Nweke Jnr and Labaran Maku, and they shared their experiences with participants.

“From what we learnt based on different experiences of the past honourable ministers of Information, and contributions by PR professionals at the Summit, it is strongly recommended that spokespersons should strategically deploy the press Agentry and Public Information models to build trust, integrity and mutual understanding in governance.” Oghenesivbe said.
