The Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State Chief Gold Eburu, a retired Brigadier General says there is no controversy surrounding the selection and appointment of the new Orosuen, Owhotemu II.
Chief Eburu spoke on Tuesday while reacting to a media publication titled Opako-Orere and Okere People Reject New Orosuen, at the Palace of the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom.
The Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom stated that the media briefing which was organised by one of the elders of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Apostle Isaac Eraivor, should be ignored by the people of the kingdom as there is no truth in it.
Chief Eburu revealed that Okere Urhobo Kingdom went agog on Friday April 7,2023 when the selection and appointment of the new Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Owhotemu II was announced.
He said all the five Constituent families and the media were duly represented during the crowning of the new Orosuen, stating that only one of the aspirants was not present out of the three other aspirants that stayed till the end of the selection.
The Otota said those who lost the contest also congratulated the new Orosuen and took photographs with him.
He stated that Unknown to Apostle Isaac Eraivor, his representative and Heads of the four constituent families participated in the whole selection process of the new
Orosuen, where he belongs, and Idama Ruling Houses forwarded the names of their nominees to the Kingmakers Council in writing .
Chief Eburu further said the Kingmakers from Sowhoruwe Ruling House informed the Kingmakers Council that they had no nominee, during the selection process.
Also speaking, Prince Churchill Oki and one of the kingmakers of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Chief John Eraivor, stated that Apostle Isaac Eraivor is known for kicking against the crowning of Orosuen in the Kingdom.
They urged the general public to ignore negative comments about the new Orosuen, Owhotemu II, stressing that the people of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom are happy over the crowning of the new Monarch.
