Uvwie Dialect: Abe I Commends Committee For Quality Job

HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso JP OON Abe 1 the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom has commended and appreciated Uvwie Dialect Restoration Committee for doing a quality job.

The Uvwie monarch made the commendation and appreciation in his address during the committee ‘ s presentation of the government approved curriculum and text books for the teaching and learning of Uvwie dialect of Urhobo language in secondary and primary schools in Uvwie Local Government Area at the ultra modern palace of Ovie of Palace GRA Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area on Monday 30th December, 2024.

Abe 1 lauded the committee for working assiduously for the success of the teaching and learning of the dialect that will commence in Uvwie Local Government in January 2025.
The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom expressed optimism that the success of the academic program will enhanced the cultural advancement of Uvwie Kingdom.
Abe 1 who spoke in the dialect of Urhobo language through out the event, then urged the audience to laud members of the committee which included : Chief Sony Daboner, an engineer ( Chairman) Chief Fedelix Adjeke ( JP ) Chief Abraham Edjedegba Kukuru, Ruth Kukuru, Ishagberi ,Sam Kukuru , Mrs Ruth Daboner for doing a quality job on the actualization of teaching and learning of Uvwie dialect of Urhobo language in Uvwie Local Government Area.

He also asked the Chairman of the committee to brief the audience on its activities.

Chief Daboner started by appreciated and commended the traditional ruler for his immense financial and moral contributions towards the success of the committee.

Daboner who also spoke in the dialect,noted that language is essential in cultural and traditional development of a people.
The chairman of the committee noted that the dialect was almost going into extinction even among the old generation of Uvwie people just as he noted that was what gave birth to the committee .

Daboner who gladly and proudly informed that the curriculum for the teaching and learning of the dialect in Uvwie Local Government Area has been approved by Delta State Government also commended and appreciated Uvwie General Improvement Union (UGIU) , Uvwie Local Government Council, scores of patriotic Uvwie sons too numerous to mention for their contributions towards the success of the academic program .

High point of the event was the formal presentation of curriculum and text books of Uvwie dialect to the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom by the chairman of the committee, Chief Sony Daboner.
