Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, citing developments within the party in Delta State.
In a letter dated May 22, 2026 and addressed to the Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North LGA, Omo-Age announced his exit from the ruling party.
The statement was signed by his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh.
“I formally announce my decision to join the National Democratic Congress,” the Obarisi of Urhoboland stated.

Omo-Agege has also declared his intention to contest for the Delta Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, has also resigned from the APC.

In a resignation letter dated May 8, 2026, addressed to the APC Ward 4 chairman in Onicha-Olona, Aniocha South LGA, Ochei said his decision takes effect immediately.
“This decision was reached after careful reflection and personal consideration. I remain grateful for the opportunity given to me to serve and associate with the party over the years,” Ochei wrote.
He thanked the party leadership and members for their support and goodwill.
In a separate statement, the former speaker said he was proud of his contributions in the APC, noting that he helped nurture relationships, build bridges, and encourage youth and women participation.
The resignations come months ahead of the 2027 general elections and may shift political alignments in Delta State.
