The clash of rival street cults caused mayhem In the morning of Wednesday January 10,2024 in Hausa Quarters by Warri / Sapele Road near Igbudu Market Warri ,warri South local Government Area of Delta State.
Our correspondent gathered that
No life was lost at the time of filing this report.
However there were reported cases of casualties on both sides as law abiding citizens including traders, buyers and commutters ran for their dear lives as most them were dispossessed of their monies and their valuables during the clash.
Some commercial tricycles ( keke ) and buses ( kpelebe) were also damaged in the rage of the incident .
An eye witness disclosed that it took the invention of combined government security agents to restore normalcy to the area.
The source also stated that it was an age long rivalry between the two groups.
He however quickly added that it has no ethnic inclination as being insinuated by most people in Warri.
The clash did not affect activities in the main Igbudu Market as there were civilian vigilante groups in the market.
Efforts to confirm the incident from the Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO ) Delta Police command , DSP Bright Edafe were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report
