BOMADI – In a significant political move ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Ijaw ethnic nationality in Delta State has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term in office.
The endorsement was the highlight of a grand reception organized by the Ijaw National Congress (INC) in Bomadi, which drew a massive crowd of traditional rulers, political heavyweights, and stakeholders from across the Niger Delta.

The motion for re-election was moved by Hon. Julius Pondi (Burutu Federal Constituency) and seconded by Hon. Oboro Preyor.
It was unanimously adopted via a voice vote led by Delta Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.
Governor Oborevwori revealed that his administration has already invested over N400 billion in Ijaw communities, targeting critical projects like the Ayakoromo Bridge and various road networks in Patani, Ogulagha, and Oporoza.

Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude for the “unwavering support,” vowing that no ethnic group would be marginalized and thanked the ijaw people for sustaining peace in their area.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, praised the Delta Governor’s focus on difficult terrains, urging the Ijaw people to maintain a united front to strengthen their political influence nationwide.
For his part INC President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, described the event as a strategic partnership to ensure the Ijaw nation remains a priority in the state and federal government’s developmental agenda.
He however appealed to the Governor to establish a tertiary university in Bomadi .
In recognition of his work in riverine areas, Governor Oborevwori was conferred with the title Izonebimiewei (The Man Who Does Good) by the Delta Ijaw Traditional Rulers Forum.

In an interview with Actual News during the grand reception held in honour of the Delta state Governor,some politicians including Director General Special duties ,Chief Frank Omare ,Chief Michael Johnny, Hon Rejoice Andaye and Chief Promise Lawuru praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for attracting more development to the ijaw communities.

They added that the ijaws will re-elected President Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2027 general elections.
They advised those yet to get their permanent voters card, PVC to do so and vote massively for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in order to attract more development to the ijaw communities
