The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Sideso, JP OON Abe I has urged pupils and students to refrain from Watching Television and using phones while school is in session and focus on their studies, citing concerns over poor examination performance nationwide.
The Uvwie monarch gave the advice while presenting scholarships to 297 pupils and students in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The monarch lamented the poor performance of pupils and students in the last academic session, blaming parents for not paying attention to their children’s education.
He thanked contributors to the scholarship scheme, including the former Governor of the state, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The chairman of Uvwie Education and Scholarship Committee, Chief Samuel Eahenake, disclosed that cheques worth N8.6 million were presented to qualified pupils and students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Beneficiaries and parents expressed gratitude for the scholarship, promising to take their studies seriously.
