The Rotary Club of Edjeba has renovated and furnished Biology and Agricultural Science Laboratories at Edjeba College, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, in a bid to drive innovation and bridge gaps in the education sector.
The project, executed through a grant from Rotary International District 9141, was unveiled during a ceremony attended by Rotarians, school authorities, and community representatives.
President of the Rotary Club of Edjeba, Rotarian Rita Okonkwo, said the service project aligns with Rotary International’s Basic Education and Literacy goal and is aimed at equipping students with hands-on science skills for human capital development.
“This gesture is a collective effort of passionate men and women committed to seeing a better world. We understand the place of a conducive environment for learning,” Okonkwo said.
She noted that the club has previously delivered several interventions in the school, including a fully furnished library, computers, chemistry labs, and solar systems. She described the Biology and Agric labs as one of the club’s star projects for the 2025/2026 Rotary year to spark STEM education within and beyond its mandate area.

The District Governor of Rotary International District 9141, Rotarian Anthony Woghiren, represented by the Assistant District Governor, Zone 8, Rotarian Franklin Ote, commended the club for its determination to support education, especially in science and agriculture.
He said Rotary International remains firm in delivering programmes across its seven areas of focus, including water and sanitation, basic education and literacy, economic development, and peace and conflict resolution. He urged the school to protect the facilities to encourage more interventions.
Other Rotarians at the event, including Assistant District Governor Zone 6, Rotarian Nicholas Otobor, and Service Projects Chairman, Rotarian Hassan Odumu, said the grant-assisted project is a strategic drive to boost research and spark critical thinking among students for food sustainability.
They called on the school management to take ownership of the project and safeguard the facility.
The principal of Edjeba College, a community representative, and a representative of the Warri South Chief Inspector of Education lauded the Rotary Club of Edjeba for the gesture. They described the project as a swift response to the needs of students and promised to utilize the facilities judiciously.
The event climaxed with the unveiling of the laboratories, followed by a clinical demonstration by students in the newly furnished labs.
